Mehmet is an expert in hospitality information technology, and hospitality instructional systems. He has served the hospitality industry for over thirteen years in various capacities and areas including; lodging operations, marketing and sales, human resources, and consulting. His research interests include use and impact of hospitality information technology, applications of human performance technology, and assessment of instructional systems.
While serving as an expert/consultant for Hospitality Experts Consortium, Mehmet teaches Hospitality Information Technology at the University of New Orleans (UNO). Prior to UNO, he taugh at Purdue University and University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he earned his Ph.D. in Hotel Administration. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Hotel and Tourism Management, as well as a Master of Science degree in Educational Technology from Purdue University. Dr. Erdem is a Certified Hospitality Technology Professional (CHTP) - a title commissioned by the Hospitality Financial & Technical Professionals and the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Assocational. In addition to serving on the editorial review boards for journals and conferences, he has published a number of refereed articles in academic journals and conference proceedings. His professional affliliations include the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), the Hospitality Information Technology Assocation (HITA), the International Federation for INformation Technology and Travel & Tourism (IFITT), the Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (CHRIE), and the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI).
