Pat Bottiglieri Ed.D., CHA, CHE is a professor of hospitality management at the Culinary Institute
of America CIA), where he has designed and taught courses in facilities design, menu
development, marketing, food service operations and cost control. Prior to starting
a teaching career at the CIA, he acquired substantial experience in food and beverage
and hotel operations. He held positions as Director of Catering, Food & Beverage
Director, Director of Hotel Operations, Hotel General Manager, and Corporate Director
of multi-unit food & beverage operations for hotels and long term care facilities.
He was employed as a corporate director by Marriott Corporation, Signet Hotel
Corporation, and Gem Hospitality Group. In the latter position he had direct
responsibility for the food and beverage operations of two Hilton Hotels, a Ramada
property, and four extended care facilities. He has been a consultant for long-term
care facilities, school districts, hotels, and independent restaurants.
Professor Bottiglieri received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree
from Rochester Institute of Technology in Hotel/Tourism Industries Management. He
earned a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
His research concentration has been in the area of the application of intrinsically
rewarding skills and behavior that enhance the moment of truth in hospitality experiences.
