Pearl Brewer, Ph.D. was educated at Purdue University, receiving her bachelors
and master's degrees in Restaurant, Hotel, and institutional Management and her doctorate in Computer
Technology. Before coming to The University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the fall of 1993, Pearl was an
assistant professor at Purdue University and Penn State University. Her teaching areas include
courses in hospitality technology and the mathematics of casino games.
Along with being a Co-Chair
of the Interactive Gaming Taskforce of Nevada (ITGF), Dr. Brewer was the recent past president of
Hospitality Industry Technology Association (HITA), served on the HITEC conference advisory board,
and currently serves on the Technology Committee of the American Hotel Lodging Association (AHLA).
She is an active member of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), the American
Hotel and Lodging Association, and the Interactive Gaming Taskforce for Nevada.
Dr. Brewer has worked
with many casinos including The Sahara, Luxor, MGM, Mirage, Stations Casinos, Claridage, as well as
addressing Australian Gaming executives, and presenting to the Nevada Gaming Commission and Nevada
Gaming Control Board. She was a recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award, given by FS TECH,
a food service technology association, the Technology Educator of the Year for 2002 presented by the
Technology Business Alliance of Nevada, and a Distinguished Service Award presented by Hospitality
Financial and Technology Professionals organization. Dr.Brewer has more that 40 articles and publication,
numerous grants and is a frequent speaker on the subjects of hospitality and gaming technologies.
