Patricia is an expert in Meeting & Event Planning
and Association Management. She plans board of trustees meetings
and annual conventions for the National Medical Association, which
consists of over 20,000 African American physicians.
Her duties entail budgeting, site-selection,
pre-convention program layout and design, staffing, and on-site
liaison activities associated with meetings and
conventions. She plays a major role in contract negotiation
with destination management companies, hotels,
package tour companies, exhibition management companies,
security firms, convention center executives,
entertainers, and limousine companies.
During her NMA career she has been responsible
for over one hundred million dollars in expenditures
with these hospitality businesses -- which caused
an economic impact of well over
three hundred million dollars.
Prior to joining NMA, Patricia was President of Travel Dynamics Proprietary Training School
where she trained residents in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, to become travel
agents. She was also a partner in the travel agency business
with the late Whitman Mayo, co-star in the famed weekly "Sanford and Son" television series. As a travel
wholesaler, Patricia designed packaged tours for South America and Africa. Prior to her
entrepreneur ventures, she was a flight attendant, reservations agent instructor, and quality
control specialist for American Airlines.
She
received her certification in Convention and Exposisition Management from Northern Virginia
Community College and obtained her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in
January 1995.
Currently Patricia serves on the Advisory Boards for the cities of Washington, DC, San Antonio and New Orleans.
